so happy to have been a part of it.
Next up..... your guess is as good as mine!! I'm looking forward
to going home to California for a little while for the holidays.
Then I'll get back on the horse and hopefully tackle some
interesting new material. I'm looking forward to whatever the next
project will be.
Don't forget to tune in to ABC on December 18th for Once Upon
A Mattress. It's about time that movie came out, right? Thanks again
to ALL of my fans!

Matthew

Hey Everyone,
So this is going to be my last "thoughts" section
for a little while. Not that I've been great in the past about putting
them up in a timely manner! I'm still going to check in with you
all from time to time. I just don't want to ramble when there isn't
much going on with me, ya know? I'll be giving my thoughts when
cool things are going on that I want to share with you. This just
happens to be one of those times. I'm sure a lot of you already
know, but I just got offered The Light in the Piazza. I was so honored
when I received the call because I've always been a huge fan of
Adam Guettel's music. And I recently became a fan of Craig Lucas
when I went to see Reckless on Bway. This part is going to be so
much fun to work on and I'm already doing a ton of research. Been
working with my vocal coaches and getting everything all tuned up
and ready to go! I'm excited for you, my fans, to see this show
because it's unlike anything that you have ever seen me do before.
I'm nervous, excited and anxious to start rehearsals.
Also, Christina and I are going to brainstorm on some fresh new
ideas for the website. If you have any thoughts or suggestions you
would like to share....feel free! I want this to be a collaborative
site. Again, thank you for your constant support and I look forward
to seeing you all at the Lincoln Center Stage Door!!
All Good Things,
Matt

First of
all, I just want to thank everyone that sent birthday messages to
me. That was very thoughtful and I was so happy to get them all!!
Thanks to Christina for designing that cool little birthday montage
on the website as well. I've been in NY for two weeks, since I finished
shooting Once Upon a Mattress, and I haven't been able to slow down
yet. I had to make one of the most difficult decisions that I've
had in a long time. I got offered a really great part in one of
the best musicals on Broadway right now (I don't think that I'm
allowed to talk about it, so I won't speak of the show). I'm a big
fan of the show, but I felt that I'm on a roll in the film and TV
world. So, I'm putting my energy into that for the time being until
there is a really amazing project to bring me back to the stage.
I cannot wait to be back on Broadway! Other than that, I had a nice
quiet birthday out of the city with a couple of my closest friends.
I can't believe that I'm 26...OLD!!!! Been taking a lot of guitar
lessons, flirting with the possibility of starting up a little band.
That is pretty much it, same old boring Matt. I hope this note finds
everyone well and warm as we get into the winter months!
All Good
Things,
Matt

Sorry that
I haven't put down a thoughts section in quite some time...I've
been overwhelmed with the hours that I've been putting in for this
film. Sometimes I get to do 16 hour days. But no complaining from
me. It's been such a blessing to be able to be a part of Once Upon
a Mattress. The cast is so incredible. I think that it is going
to turn out REALLY well. Crossing my fingers at least. Everyone
keeps asking me what I'll be doing after I finish up here. I can't
answer that right now, but there are some promising film projects
on the horizon. Vancouver has been really rainy, which is a little
depressing, but thank god all of our sets are inside! I had my best
friend up here one weekend and then my mom another, so those trips
helped fight off boredom. I hope that they put out a CD of this
production because all of the music that we laid down in the recording
studio sounds amazing. I've never sang with 46 musicians before.
Other than that, life is good up here. They got me up in this hotel
that is so sweet and I got a car and I'm just living it up. Every
celebrity that shoots in Vancouver stays in this hotel, so I've
had a few elevator rides with some interesting people! I'll be coming
back to NY at the end of October. I'm really looking forward to
it because it will be my first time back in 6 months...I miss home!
All good things,
Matt

Thank you for all of the positive feedback that many of you have
given during my run of Hairspray here in LA. It has been such a
delight to be back home and to do the show in front of a lot of
friends that couldn't make it to NY. So here is the deal and I'm
giving it to you all first...I just booked the new TV movie of Once
Upon A Mattress. It's starring Carol Burnett, Tracey Ullman, Dennis
O'Hare, Zooey Deschanel, and ME. I'm so excited about this project
and I'm itching to get up to Vancouver (where
it shoots). Sadly, It also means that I will have to leave Hairspray
early. My last show will be this Tues. Aug. 17th. I fly out right
the next day. I sincerely apologize to any fans that are coming
in the weeks following weeks. This is an opportunity that I simply
cannot pass on. It just means that you will see me on TV in a few
months!! I guess I'll be writing you all next from Canada, eh!!
Until Then,
Matt

Howdy,
I've just spent the past two weeks in San Diego getting ready for
Hairspray LA. Marissa and I had a week of rehearsals and then we
performed for a week. I pinched a nerve in my neck, my ankles messed
up, my legs feel like they weigh 100lbs....so basically, I'm BACK!!!
I can't tell you how exciting it is to be up on that stage again.
It's so cool doing it with a whole new cast. Feeding off different
reactions and different takes on lines that I've never heard before.
It forces me to be a better actor and react to what's going on.
And working with Marissa again is a dream. It's like we never left.
We're slowly remembering all of our old bits and it's getting to
be like clockwork again. Please tell your friends in the LA area
who haven't seen the show to come and check it out. I'll drop a
line next week and let you all know how things are going in Los
Angeles!
Until then,
Matt

Hey Gang- Just wanted to let everyone know that shooting for the
pilot just finished and it was such an awesome experience. I had
the best time with this cast and really learning about how to act
for television. It is so much different than doing it on stage.
I have to say that when we did our taping in front of a live studio
audience, I felt right at home. It was just nice to perform again.
I've heard some of you talking about me never coming back to the
stage again so I just want to state for the record that I PROMISE
to return. Although, TV work is a lot easier and the money is a
lot better, I'll always have that burning inside of me to be up
on the stage. While I have your attention, I also wanted to dispell
another rumor. I know that the Mary Bond Davis interview threw a
lot of people to think that I hated Hairspray. That is not the case
at all. I couldn't believe that some people were actually saying
that. I was just burnt out at that point. Doing 8 shows a week for
the past 5 years can really wear you thin. So, this break has been
amazing for me and I'm looking forward to getting back on Broadway
soon. I hope you all are well.
All Good Things,
Matt

Hey Guys,
Well, things have definitely picked up in my life since the last
time I checked in with you all. All of the auditioning that I've
done these past few months has finally paid off. I just booked a
new sitcom pilot for ABC. The show is called, Thank God It's Monday.
It's kind of a guys show about these married guys who look forward
to coming to work just to get away from their wives and kids. It's
a look inside what guys really do and talk about. My character is
a law school student who is working at this plumbing fixture store,
with the married guys, to pay for school. All of the guys live vicariously
through me because I'm the good-looking single one. It's actually
hard to explain the whole thing in words, but take my word for it,
it's hilarious. I hope that it gets picked up so that you all can
see it! I'm looking forward to coming out to NY before I start shooting.
I need to catch up on seeing shows. I'm really looking forward to
seeing Assassins, it's one of my favorite musicals. I hope that
everyone's doing well.

Hey Fans,
I'm not going to ramble on about what I'm doing out here in
LA because it isn't all that exciting. I will let you know the minute
that I get a job!!! I basically wanted to give special recognition
to a pal of mine that just passed away on Monday 3/9/04. His name
was Robert Pastorelli. You might have known him from his many films,
he was probably most famous for his role as the painter on Murphy
Brown. And for those of you who follow my career, he played the
bad detective that was chasing me on the episode of HACK that I
did. He was such a great guy and a joy to be around. I remember
after we shot HACK he brought his daughter to come and see Hairspray
and I'll never forget the smiles on there faces afterwards! I guess
what I'm getting at is that whenever something like this happens
it always makes you stop and think how important it is to say "I
love you" to loved ones and to just appreciate everyone in
this world. Life is way too short for hate and spite. Sorry this
hasn't been the regular chipper Matt Morrison thought. Thanks for
hearing me out!! MATT

Howdy- I can't even begin to describe the humbling experience that
I've been having out here in LA. It's so wierd to go from being
the toast of Broadway and being constantly patted on the back in
New York to now being just another face in an audition room here
in LA. I miss the show, my friends, and everything about NY (except
the weather!!). I'm having a good time trying to start fresh out
here and meeting new people. The most interesting thing about this
place is the people. I'm used to New Yorkers and their comfort in
just being themselves (most of the time), out here it's so hard
to find genuine people. It's funny because I actually spend the
most time with Corey Reynolds and Marissa Winokur. They're like
my family out here.
Anyway, I was in NY last week doing the Tarzan workshop. It was
a lot of fun. I have to say that one of my favorite parts of the
whole creative process is to be in a room like that with so many
talented people and just working slowly through a piece. Everyone
gets to add their input and at the end of the week when you actually
present the piece to all of the producers, creative team, and whatnot,
you can see how far the show has come from when you started. The
first reading of Hairspray was only the first act and just had 3
songs! But overall, it was a good and busy week. I did the benifit
for Michael Arden which went well although the piano player missed
a KEY CHANGE (no harm, no foul). Then I went to a recording studio
and laid down some tracks for The Opposite of Sex, which to my understanding
is coming to Broadway this year sometime. I'm not sure at this point
if I will be a part of that production, only time will tell.
Well, I've said my peace...I'll keep everyone updated if I book
a job out here. Keep your fingers crossed. Later- Matty Fresh

Hello All,
First of all, I'd like to thank all of you for checking out
my site. Thank you to Christina for all of the hard work that you've
put into it. I'll be writing a little note like this once a month
to let everyone know what is going on with me and to express thoughts
of recent project I take on. I can't believe that my tenure at Hairspray
is finally at a close. It has been a wild ride and I wouldn't change
anything about it. For those of you coming to the final performance
on Sunday bring some kleenex, if not for you then for me because
I'm going to be a mess! Thank you to all of you that have come to
see the show over the past year and a half and especially to those
who have showered me with praise...I am the one who should be praising
you. Thank You. Stay tuned for what is next..... Matt
